If the blood is from an animal whose carrion is pure, then it is pure; and if it is from an animal whose carrion is impure, then it is impure. This is the criterion. The blood of a fish is pure because its carrion is pure, and the blood of a human is pure because its carrion is pure, except for what comes out of the two passages—the front or the back— for the hadith indicates that it is impure, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding a woman who is affected by menstrual blood, where he said: (Wash the blood off you) .
