The ruling on one who kills his son by mistake

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
ً
An elderly man accidentally ran over his son with a vehicle. What is the ruling regarding him, given that he is suffering from diabetes? The Shaykh: But it was an accident? The questioner: Yes.
If a person kills his son by mistake, he is like any other person in this regard.Meaning: He is obligated to expiate the sin by freeing a slave. If he cannot find one, he must fast for two consecutive months. If he is unable to do so, he owes nothing. As for the blood money, it belongs to the heirs, who are everyone other than the father. For example: If he has brothers and a mother, and no sons, the blood money goes to his mother and his brothers.

The questioner: Is the father obligated to pay the blood money? The Shaykh: Yes, the father is obligated to pay it, unless the heirs waive their right, because it is a right belonging to the heirs. If they waive it, there is no harm.

The questioner: Is there no expiation by feeding, O Shaykh? The Shaykh: The expiation for killing does not include feeding; it consists only of freeing a slave or fasting.
