Clarification of the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding mosques: “You will certainly adorn them just as the Jews and Christians adorned theirs”
Regarding the hadith of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in which he mentioned the mosques,So he said: “You will certainly adorn them just as the Jews and Christians adorned theirs”, is the intended meaning of adornment images and statues, and if they are adorned with images, is it permissible to pray in them?
This hadith is narrated from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) as his statement.
If that is the case, then the adornment referred to is the adornment similar to the adornment of the Jews and Christians.
As for adornment that does not distract the worshipper but rather adds comfort to the mosque, such as coolness in summer and warmth in winter, there is nothing wrong with it; however, one must not exaggerate in this, as some people do now. You find them placing adornments and engravings on the mihrab that distract the worshipper or that cost a high price.
As for images, it is not permissible at all to place any image in the mosques, neither an image of a human being nor an image of an animal.
