The Ruling on Approving a Wrongdoing for the Sake of Da'wah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
You spoke, may Allah reward you, about da'wah and what da'wah is. Some callers to Allah go to a person who smokes and sometimes give him money to buy cigarettes,And he says: claiming that this is in the way of da'wah. Is this correct, and sits with him while the television is on and says: or is it not permissible to do this for the sake of da'wah? Is this correct or not?
This is not correct. Approving a wrongdoing is itself a wrongdoing. And giving him money to buy cigarettes in order to win his affection is not correct. Winning his affection means advising him and explaining to him the harms of sin, whether it is smoking or something else, warning him against it, and giving him, for example, directed tapes, messages, or booklets. This is how one wins his affection. But for the caller to commit the sin himself, or to buy the cigarettes for him, or to give him money to buy cigarettes, this is not correct.

The questioner: Does he sin or not?Answer: Yes.
The one who is present for a wrongdoing commits a sin, except for the one who is present to remove it. For example, if a person sits with a group of people who have a television showing forbidden things, and he sits without immediately confronting them with disapproval, but sits so that they feel at ease with him,Then he said: then this is forbidden and not permissible. He should advise them. If they turn away from him and turn off the television, that is what is required. If they persist, he should leave. If he remains after that, he is sinful.
