The Ruling on Means of Da'wah
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Your Eminence! What is the correct view regarding the means of da'wah (calling others to Islam)? Are they based on divine text or on independent legal reasoning?
Yes, the correct view regarding matters of da'wah is that they are based on divine text; one does not call people except by the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). However, if there is a need for reconciliation and bringing people closer, there is no harm in using whatever brings about the reconciliation of hearts and brings them closer. For this reason, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called people with the Qur'an and the Sunnah, and yet he gave from the zakah to those whose hearts were to be reconciled, in order to bring them closer.
So if it happens that there is something permissible that is used for bringing people closer and reconciling them, there is no harm in it;But on the condition that the primary foundation is: [it must be] the Book and the Sunnah and the path of the righteous predecessors.
