The Obligation of Justice Between Students of the People of the Sunnah and the Rafidah
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
It is known to you, O Shaykh, that there are many Rafidah among us in the Prophet’s City (may the best of prayers and peace be upon its inhabitant), and they study with us in all the schools. So some teachers ask and say: Is it obligatory for me to be just between them and the students who are from the People of the Sunnah, or should I be short with them and not give them their due? Because they are, as he says, enemies of Allah and His Messenger,And they are, as many scholars said: disbelievers who have gone out of the religion.
First: I liked your saying: the Prophet’s City; because what is well-known among people is the Radiant City,And the correct view is: the Prophet’s City; because the light was also in Makkah before it was in the City.
Second: It is obligatory for the teacher to judge with justice,Allah, Mighty and Majestic, said: [Al-Ma'idah: 8] meaning: let not your hatred of a people lead you to not be just [Al-Ma'idah: 8] to the extent that the scholars said: it is obligatory for the judge, if two litigants come to him, one Muslim and the other a disbeliever, to seat them in one place before him,So he does not say to the Muslim: saying to one: come here, and to the disbeliever: go there. No.
Rather, he places them both before him, and he is just between them in speech, so he does not speak harshly to the disbeliever and gently to the Muslim,So he does not say to the Muslim: saying "May Allah give you a good morning" to one and not to the disbeliever, but he makes them equal in the matter of the trial; because this is justice.
So these students, when they submit their answers, let him look away from the fact that it is so-and-so or so-and-so. Let him correct based on what is before him of speech. If it is correct, it is correct, and if it is wrong, it is wrong. Just as it is not permissible for him, if he knows the owner of the answer, to look at the student’s previous state, whether he is understanding or not; because some people, or some teachers, estimate the students’ grades based on what they knew of them before, and this is a mistake. Rather, it is obligatory to estimate the grades or the ranking based on what was submitted to him in the final answer;Due to the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his companions): (I only judge according to what I hear).
And often the student is good, but he misunderstands the answer or the question, so he understands the question as the questioner intending such-and-such, and he answers according to this understanding.
Or he misunderstands the answer and thinks that the answer to this question is such-and-such, and it is wrong,For example, if in the question: How many categories are there for hadith? The student thinks that the intended meaning is: How many categories are there in terms of number,So he says: Mutawatir, Mashhur, Aziz, Gharib, and others.
And another misunderstands that the intended meaning is: The ranks of hadith in terms of validity, he says: Sahih, Hasan, and Da'if.
And the Sahih is either in itself or due to another, and the Hasan is either in itself or due to another.
So the important thing is: That it is obligatory for the teacher, when the answer papers are presented to him, to correct based on the answer, regardless of the one who answered.
And likewise, during teaching, he must be just between the students no matter what the situation is. And by this method, he opens up far horizons that he may not realize; because the opponent understands that he did not challenge him,So he desires it and says: that he is fair and just, and that leads him to become accustomed to him and accept what he says.
And for this reason, we advise our brother teachers in the countries you mentioned, where the People of the Sunnah and the People of Innovation mix, to try, as much as possible, to reconcile the People of Innovation and draw them to them; because the youth are soft in character,And for this, the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said: (Kill the elders of the polytheists, and spare their young ones) meaning: their youth; so that he can attract them. But if the professor treats his students from the People of Innovation with harshness and the others with gentleness, or treats them with strictness in correction and the others with leniency, or treats them by dropping them while they are answering correctly, then there is no doubt that this generates hatred and aversion in their hearts, even toward the truth that was with this professor.
