Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: (They ask you about the Hour: when is its coming?)]
Then Allah the Exalted said: [Surat al-Naziat: 42] (They ask you) meaning: the people ask you,As Allah the Exalted said in another verse: [Surat al-Ahzab: 63] The people's questioning about the Hour is divided into two categories: questioning to deny and reject it, and this is disbelief, just as the polytheists asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about the Hour and hastened it,And Allah said about these people: [Surat al-Shura: 18] .
And questioning about the Hour in order to prepare for it, and there is nothing wrong with that,And a man said to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): (O Messenger of Allah! When is the Hour?He said to him: What have you prepared for it?He said: Love of Allah and His Messenger,He said: A person is with whom he loves) So the people ask the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), but their intentions in this question differ. However, whatever their intentions and whatever their questions, the knowledge of the Hour is with Allah,And for this he said: [Surat al-Naziat: 43-44] meaning: it is not possible to inform them of the Hour. Why? Because its knowledge is with Allah,As Allah the Exalted said in another verse: [Surat al-Ahzab: 63] And Jibril—who is the most knowledgeable of the messengers among the angels—asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)—who is the most knowledgeable of creation among the humans—So he said: (Inform me about the Hour?So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The one asked about it is not more knowledgeable than the one asking) meaning: if it is hidden from you, then it is also hidden from me. And if the most knowledgeable of the angels and the most knowledgeable of humans do not know when the Hour is, what can be said of those below them? And by this we know that what some people spread about the Hour occurring at such-and-such a time, or in a specific era, is all lies. We know that they are liars in that; because they do not know when the Hour is, and no one knows it except Allah (Mighty and Majestic).
Then Allah the Exalted said:
They ask you, [O Muhammad], about the Hour: when is its arrival?
يَسْأَلُونَكَ عَنْ السَّاعَةِ أَيَّانَ مُرْسَاهَاPeople ask you concerning the Hour. Say," Knowledge of it is only with Allah.
يَسْأَلُكَ النَّاسُ عَنِ السَّاعَةِ قُلْ إِنَّمَا عِلْمُهَا عِنْدَ اللَّهِThose who do not believe in it are impatient for it, but those who believe are fearful of it and know that it is the truth
However, whatever their intentions and whatever their questions, the knowledge of the Hour is with Allah,And for this he said:
