The brother of a woman's husband is not a mahram (a relative one may not marry) for her

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The brother of a woman's husband is not a mahram (a relative one may not marry) for her
Is a man a mahram (a relative one may not marry) for his brother's wife? And is the brother's wife like the son's wife or the father's wife?
No, the brother's wife is not like the son's wife or the father's wife. The brother of her husband is not a mahram (a relative one may not marry) for her, so she must cover herself from him just as she covers herself from a non-mahram (a relative one may not marry).Rather, if it were said: She must cover herself from her husband's brother even more than she covers herself from a man in the street! If it were said that she should, it would have a basis; because if she uncovered her face to her husband's brother, and he is with her in the house, the fitnah (trial, discord or temptation) would be greater. So at any time he enters the house, and Satan has incited him, he might try to deceive her. But in the street, if a man looks at her and is attracted to her, he cannot reach her as her husband's brother can. The important point is that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) pointed to this matter,Where he said: (Beware of entering upon women,They said: O Messenger of Allah, what about the in-laws?He said: The in-laws are death) meaning: so beware of them.

Therefore: The brother of a woman's husband is not a mahram (a relative one may not marry) for her, but the father of her husband is a mahram (a relative one may not marry), and likewise the son of her husband is a mahram (a relative one may not marry).
