The husband is not a mahram to his wife's sister

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: The first ruling from Fatwa No. ( 15649 )
Q1: I have two unmarried sisters and two married sisters who have children. My unmarried sisters do not observe hijab in the presence of their sisters' husbands. I forbade this, but my sisters said, "Our father did not forbid this before he passed away, so how can you forbid us?" What should I do? I have already explained to them from the Noble Qur'an that it is haram and not permissible. Please issue a ruling for us. May Allah reward you with good.
A1: It is not permissible for a woman to uncover her face in the presence of her sister's husband, because he is a non-mahram to her. Uncovering is only permissible for mahrams, and he is not among the mahrams. When customs contradict the ruling of the Shari'ah, they must be abandoned and the ruling of the Shari'ah must be adhered to. You did well in forbidding it. May Allah bless you. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
