Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first message in this episode is a message sent to the program from New Halfa, Sudan. The sender is one of the sisters from there, saying: Your sister Aisha Ali Hasan Khalifa, our sister, has a set of questions. In her first question, she asks and says: Is it permissible for me to travel with my sister and her husband as my mahram and hers? This is her first question, if you permit, Shaykh Abdul Aziz?
Answer: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon the Messenger of Allah, and upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow his guidance.
As for the matter: It is authentically reported from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:Sahih al-Bukhari 1862, and the sister’s husband is not a mahram; rather, he is a mahram only to his wife. As for her sister, her paternal aunt, and her maternal aunt, he is not a mahram for them; rather, he is a mahram for his wife, his mother, and his daughter, provided he has had intercourse with his mother. There is no harm in him being a mahram for the wife, a mahram for the mother, a mahram for the grandmother, and so on. He is a mahram for the daughter, the wife’s daughter, provided he has had intercourse with her mother. As for the wife’s sister, the wife’s paternal aunt, the wife’s maternal aunt, and the wife’s cousin, he is not a mahram for them. Yes.

As for the matter: It is authentically reported from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
A woman should not travel except with a Dhu-Mahram
