Allah the Mighty and Majestic says in the Noble Qur'an: [Surah al-Nahl: 43] And the student has not yet reached the level of knowledge, so it is obligatory for him to follow a scholar without knowing his evidence, and it is known that the student follows his shaykh, for if he did not follow his shaykh, he would not benefit from him. Were it not that the student believes his shaykh is a place of trust in his knowledge and his integrity, he would not benefit from him. There is no blame on him in this, until he grows up and his knowledge expands and he is able to perform independent legal reasoning for himself, then he chooses what he chooses.
