Voluntary Prayers

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Standing in prayer at night remains prescribed every night. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would stand in prayer until his feet swelled. And it is authentically reported from him (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: (Our Lord descends to the lowest heaven when the last third of the night remains, and He says: Who is calling upon Me that I may answer him? Who is asking Me that I may give him? Who is seeking My forgiveness that I may forgive him? Until the dawn breaks, and this is every night).

Therefore: Standing in prayer at night is prescribed every night, and prayer is also prescribed at all times except the prohibited times; for in those times, one does not pray except obligatory prayers or voluntary prayers with a specific cause. Prayer is of great significance; for this reason, a man fulfilled a need for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him);So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: (Ask -Meaning: What do you want us to reward you with? -He said: I ask you for your companionship in Paradise - look at the high aspiration! He did not ask for anything of this world, he asked to be the companion of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in Paradise -So he said: Is that all?He said: That is it, O Messenger of Allah,He said: So help me to control myself by prostrating frequently) The scholars said: By prostrating frequently,Meaning: By praying frequently; because prayer is called prostration, as it is a pillar therein,Just as it is said: Freeing a slave, and he means a complete slave, but since a neck is the part by which life is possible, it was used to refer to the entire slave.
