The Shaykh’s reminder regarding the Sunnah of closing the gaps in the rows.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Yesterday, when it was crowded and I arrived at the last moment to pray next to you and see you, honestly, it was so tight that I did this, and there was no room for me.

The Shaykh: Good.

The questioner : I squeezed myself in, I mean.

The Shaykh: All right.

The questioner : I squeezed myself in for what? To have a place.

The Shaykh : May Allah reward you with good.

The questioner : I don’t always do it like that.

The Shaykh : No problem.

The questioner: No.

The Shaykh : No problem, now there is another benefit. I will tell you something that is very important and relates to the life of Muslims in general today, which is that "the end does not justify the means." You wanted not to bother the person on your right and left, but this is not done by violating the Sunnah. So combine the two matters: the first matter you aimed for, which is actually fulfilling a correct Prophetic hadith
Be soft with your brothers' hands. لِينُوا بأيدي إخوانكم
, but not in the way you did. Look, now.

The questioner : I know.

The Shaykh : Ha ha, I squeezed myself in. I brought the Sunnah, and the Sunnah that few people do, which 'Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) drew attention to. I do not say "Imam" because that is a Shi'ite expression, and he is certainly an Imam, because Abu Bakr is an Imam, 'Umar is an Imam, 'Uthman is an Imam, and 'Ali is an Imam. But the Shi'ah reserved the term "Imam" for 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him). So I say: this Sunnah is what 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) used to explain the saying of our Lord (Blessed and Exalted is He):
(1) Indeed, We have granted you, [O Muhammad], al-Kawthar. (2) So pray to your Lord and sacrifice [to Him alone]. إِنَّا أَعْطَيْنَاكَ الْكَوْثَرَ " فَصَلِّ لِرَبِّكَ وَانْحَرْ
[Al-Kawthar 108:1-2]
; meaning: place your hands at your chest. So instead of doing this to squeeze your elbows and not bother the person on your right and left, raise your hands as much as you can. Then you will see them: close the hands, raise them. You will have killed two birds with one stone.

The questioner : May Allah reward you.

The Shaykh : And may Allah protect you, if Allah wills.

The questioner : What did you buy from me now...

The Shaykh : May Allah reward you with good.

The questioner : And "Etiquettes of the Wedding."

The Shaykh : If Allah wills, there is a new marriage on your way, he he.

The questioner : I pointed to the book for him and said, "Take it." He took it right away. I wrote his name on it and said, "Here is the name."

Another questioner : He has been thinking about marriage for two years. Even that time, I said to him, "But what happened with you?" He said, "My brother, Umm Muhammad is not accepting it." I said to him, "How can she accept it?"

The Shaykh : By Allah, neither Umm Muhammad nor Umm Ahmad are accepting it.

The questioner : I told him, "Don’t consult her... a good girl will marry right away and bear with you for a week of anger."

The Shaykh : That is correct.

The questioner : Do you need her permission to go get married?

The Shaykh : No, by Allah.

The questioner : They will never agree.

The Shaykh : Strike the iron while it is hot.

The questioner : All right, I want to marry him off.
