The questioner : What is the ruling on placing a newborn in front of its mother while she is praying in the mosque, on the pretext of keeping the rows tight so that there is no gap between her and the woman next to her, and that is in congregational prayer?

The Shaykh : This is a mistake, because placing the child in front of her distracts her and distracts others by looking at him. If there is a gap between her and the other praying woman, it does not break the row, because the space it takes up is small. And if the child is of discerning age, he prays with the people. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.
