The Meaning of Seeking Nearness to Allah Through the Supplication of the Righteous

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
What is seeking nearness to Allah through the supplication of some righteous people?
Seeking nearness to Allah through the supplication of the righteous is permissible; for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to have people come to him seeking his intercession with Allah the Mighty and Majestic in their supplication. A man once entered on Friday while the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was delivering the sermon and said: [O Messenger of Allah! The wealth has been destroyed and the roads have been cut off, so call upon Allah to send us relief] So he prayed for them, and Ikhsa ibn Mahsan, when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) informed him that seventy thousand of his Ummah would enter Paradise without reckoning or punishment, said: (Call upon Allah to make me one of them,He said: You are among them) There are many proofs for this, except that an exception is made if it is feared that this righteous man will become arrogant with himself and be afflicted with arrogance and self-admiration; in that case, one should not ask him for supplication. Nevertheless, a person should not ask another to supplicate for him; because this is a type of the blameworthy asking. You should call upon Allah yourself,Do not say: O so-and-so! Call upon Allah for me, and what is reported about the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said to 'Umar: (Do not forget us, O my brother, in your supplication) this has no authenticity.
