Ruling on Announcing a Death via Loudspeakers
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
When a person dies, they bring a car with a loudspeaker and drive around the villages,And they say: saying, "So-and-so has passed away to the mercy of Allah," and they prepare a place to receive people, cook food for them, and bring a reciter to read. What is the ruling on these things? And does the deceased benefit from the recitation, given that the reciter takes a wage for his reading?
This is forbidden from several aspects: First: this is part of the eulogy (na'i) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to forbid the eulogy,And it is: which is announcing the death of a deceased person, except if the deceased has not yet been buried and we are informed of his death in order to increase the number of people praying for him. It is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he announced the death of the Negus on the day he died, and he ordered the people to go out and pray for him.
Second: This practice is from the practices of the pre-Islamic age of ignorance, and we have been forbidden from imitating them.
Third: It is a form of wailing, where people gather with the family of the deceased, prepare food, and eat it.
Fourth: It involves a forbidden act, which is taking a wage for reciting the Qur'an. This is a forbidden act because the recitation of the Qur'an is only an act of devotion to Allah, and what is only an act of devotion cannot be the subject of a wage. As for the deceased benefiting from it, he certainly does not benefit.Rather, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: (Indeed, the deceased is punished for what is wailed over him) So he is punished for this practice, and he does not benefit from the reciter's reading. This reciter has no reward because he hastened his reward by taking the wage, so he has no share in the Hereafter. If he has no reward in the Hereafter, then the deceased does not benefit from anything. Therefore, those who do this must be warned, and they should fear it, and they should know that it contains nothing but the waste of money, the waste of time, and falling into sins—may Allah protect us from that.
