Peace upon the Muslim who does not return the greeting

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Your Eminence! May Allah reward you. What is your ruling regarding a man who is greeted but does not return the greeting to you, and after you have advised him, he does not stop? Do you greet him?

I say: Greet him, even if he does not return the greeting to you; for a person is commanded to greet his Muslim brother. When you greet him, you receive the reward, and he bears the sin. This is indicated by the fact that a man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: “O Messenger of Allah! I have relatives whom I maintain ties with, but they cut me off. I do good to them, but they do evil to me. I am patient with them, but they are rude to me.So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If you are as you say, it is as if you are pouring molten metal on them.” That is: continue, as if you are pouring molten metal on them,And al-mal is: which is hot ash, or it is hot dust. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded him to maintain family ties even if they cut them off. So likewise, you should greet him even if he does not return the greeting. And perhaps with repetition, he will feel ashamed and reconsider himself and say: Why should I not return the greeting to him?The questioner: And if he thinks that this is part of the religion?Answer: If he is boycotting you and thinks that this is religion, then you said that you advised him, but he did not stop.
