Exegesis of His saying, the Exalted: (Woe on that Day to the deniers)
[Al-Mutaffifin:10] (Wail) has been discussed previously at the beginning of this surah,And We said: It is a word of warning; Allah warns with it those who deserve the warning, and it is frequent in the Noble Qur'an,And his statement: [Al-Mutaffifin: 11] The entire discourse, from the beginning of the surah to its end, is about the Day of Judgment and the recompense. Allah warns these deniers of the Day of Judgment with woe; because these deniers of the Day of Judgment cannot stand firm upon the law of Allah; because no one stands firm upon the Shari'ah of Allah except one who believes in the Day of Judgment; because one who does not believe in it, but only believes in this worldly life, does not care about what is beyond it, nor does he work for it,And he remains like cattle: [Muhammad: 12] .
Therefore, Allah always couples belief in Him with belief in the Hereafter; because belief in Allah is the beginning, and belief in the Hereafter is the end. So you believe in Allah, then you work for the Hereafter, which is the destination.
So these people—may Allah protect us from them—denied the Day of Judgment, and whoever denies it can never work for it; because action is built upon belief. If you do not have belief, how can you work? And for this he said: [Al-Mutaffifin: 12] Meaning: No one denies the Day of Judgment and rejects it except every transgressor, sinner; meaning, a transgressor in his actions and a sinner in his words,And it was said: A transgressor in his actions and a sinner in his earnings,Meaning: That his end is sin. The two meanings are close. The important point is that no one can deny the Day of Judgment except a man who is a transgressor and a sinner, sinful, gathering sins that lead him to the Fire of Hell. We seek refuge in Allah.
Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Mutaffifin: 13] (When Our verses are recited to him) means: When someone recites them to him. This indicates that this man does not think to recite the verses of Allah himself, but they are recited to him,So when they were recited to him, he said: (The tales of the former peoples) meaning: These are the tales of the former peoples.
And "tales": It is the plural of "tale," and it is speech that is said for amusement, having no truth or basis,So he says: This Qur'an is the tales of the former peoples! Why does he not benefit from the Qur'an, which is the most eloquent speech and the most impactful on the heart?! Until Allah the Exalted said: [Qaf: 37] .
We suffice with this amount of speech on the exegesis of the verses of this surah.
Then woe, that Day, to the deniers,
Who deny the Day of Recompense.
الَّذِينَ يُكَذِّبُونَ بِيَوْمِ الدِّينِenjoy themselves and eat as grazing livestock eat, and the Fire will be a residence for them.
And for this he said:
And none deny it except every sinful transgressor.
Allah the Exalted said:
When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples."
And "tales": It is the plural of "tale," and it is speech that is said for amusement, having no truth or basis,So he says: This Qur'an is the tales of the former peoples! Why does he not benefit from the Qur'an, which is the most eloquent speech and the most impactful on the heart?! Until Allah the Exalted said:
Indeed in that is a reminder for whoever has a heart or who listens while he is present [in mind].
We suffice with this amount of speech on the exegesis of the verses of this surah.
