The Ruling on Embroidered Women's Abayas

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
His Eminence the Shaykh: What is your opinion regarding women's abayas that are embroidered, with decorations on the sleeves and at the bottom?
I think it is better for women to stick to the previous style of abaya, because it is more concealing and further from fitnah (trial, discord or temptation). As for the abayas that have appeared recently, if they do not have embroidery that draws attention, or hanging tassels, or tightness that reveals the size of the body, I hope there is no harm in them. However, I find it difficult to say this, for I fear it may be a door to greater evil; because women, as you know, progress from the easier to what is above it, and then when the tear becomes too large for the patch, we are unable to deal with it. But I cannot forbid something that has no harm from the perspective of Islamic sacred law. However, I say: It is better to maintain what we were accustomed to before; because it is closer to following the Salaf (the earliest generations) and the women of the Companions (the Companions of the Prophet), and further from fitnah (trial, discord or temptation), and more effective in blocking the door to evil and corruption.
