Paying off a debt takes precedence over Hajj if one has only the money for Hajj

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
A man wants to perform Hajj, but he has car installments!

Yes! We say regarding the man who wants to perform Hajj and has car installments: If the installments are due, he should pay them off first and then perform Hajj; because paying off a debt is obligatory, and Hajj is not obligatory, even if it is the obligatory Hajj, it is not obligatory for you until you pay off your debt. As for if the installments are deferred, it is looked at whether he has what to pay the debt with when it becomes due; in that case, he performs Hajj. And if he has nothing but this money he wants to use for Hajj, he does not go out; he saves it and keeps it to pay off his debt.
