The ruling on dhikr with the tongue while the heart is absent

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
If a person recites the adhkar reported from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and his heart is not present, does he receive reward for this?
There is no doubt that if a person performs an act of worship with the presence of the heart, that is better. But if he performs it while absent-minded, he still receives reward for it; because the basis of his action was the intention to draw near to Allah (Mighty and Majestic), and this is sufficient for the reward to be established. However, it will be deficient, without a doubt. Therefore, Allah, Mighty and Majestic, said:
and do not obey one whose heart We have made heedless of Our remembranceوَلا تُطِعْ مَنْ أَغْفَلْنَا قَلْبَهُ عَنْ ذِكْرِنَا
[Surah al-Kahf: 28] and He did not say: "Those whose tongues We have made negligent." In this is an indication that it is incumbent upon a person, when remembering Allah, to be present in heart, so that his heart is not absent-minded. And what indicates this is that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) informed: (that Satan comes to a person in his prayer and says: "Remember such and such, remember such and such," reminding him of what he had forgotten) and the Messenger did not say: "His prayer is invalid." This indicates that dhikr and every act of drawing near that a person draws near to his Lord with, while absent-minded, has reward in it, and it suffices him for the obligatory if it is obligatory, but it is deficient according to the degree of the absence of the heart.
