The Shaykh :[Al-Ahzab 33:41] [Ali 'Imran 3:190-191] Then He said: [Ali 'Imran 3:191] meaning in every state. And here He says: [Al-Ahzab 33:41] Know that the remembrance of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, is by the tongue, by the heart, and by the limbs. It is by the tongue, such as our saying "There is no god but Allah," "Glory be to Allah," "Praise be to Allah," "Allah is the Greatest," and the recitation of the Qur'an and the like. How is this done? By the tongue. And it is by the heart, in that a person is always with Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, with his heart, remembering Allah the Exalted always with his heart, remembering Allah by His greatness, remembering Allah by His majesty, and remembering Allah by His dominion. The remembrance of Allah by the heart is more impactful than the remembrance of Allah by the tongue. Listen to the saying of Allah the Exalted: [Ali 'Imran 3:135] meaning with their hearts they remembered the greatness of Allah, so they sought forgiveness for their sins. The remembrance of Allah the Exalted by the limbs: "Every movement that brings one closer to Allah is from the remembrance of Allah" This is the rule: every movement that brings one closer to Allah is from the actions of Allah. In the prayer, standing is from the remembrance of Allah, bowing is from the remembrance of Allah, prostration is from the remembrance of Allah, and sitting in the prayer is from the remembrance of Allah. Every movement is from the remembrance of Allah. The evidence for this is the saying of Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He: [Al-Jumu'ah 62:9] The prayer and the sermon, and the saying of Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He: [Al-'Ankabut 29:45] meaning because the remembrance of Allah therein is greater than that. So, how is the remembrance done? Brother.
The student: It is by the tongue, it is by the heart, it is by the limbs.
The Shaykh : You have done well, may Allah reward you. It is by the tongue, the limbs, and the heart.
