Supplication with the heart distracted
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The fifth question of Fatwa No. ( 17262 )
Q5: I frequently recite many of the adhkar and awrad narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with my tongue, while my heart is preoccupied with other things. Is it obligatory for me to understand what I am saying every time I recite these adhkar?
A5: It is prescribed that the heart be in agreement with the tongue so that one benefits from the dhikr. Therefore, you should strive to reflect on what you are saying when you remember Allah. If the heart is sometimes distracted from this, there is no blame on you, if Allah wills. We advise you to frequently
seek refuge in Allah from Shaytan when whispers occur. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
