Ruling on applying the rulings of travel for one who goes to study for a specific period of time

I am from Jeddah and I go to al-Qassim for a specific period of time, which is the study period of four years, and then I return to Jeddah. Do I take the same ruling as a traveler, such as shortening the prayer and leaving the voluntary prayers?The Shaykh: So you are a traveler. Therefore, we find that when you finish your studies during the vacation days, you return to your family. So you are, in our view, a traveler, but you are required to attend the congregation in the mosques. If you hear the call to prayer, answer it.
