The ruling on the people of the period of ignorance.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : They are exactly like the people of the period of ignorance. The people of the period of ignorance about whom we have been informed from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) that they were disbelievers: we must rule that they are disbelievers and that they are in the Fire, just as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) ruled regarding them. It is not permissible for us to object and say, "Why are these people among the people of the Fire when they were in the period of ignorance?" We say: Because Allah and His Messenger know best. There are examples of this. As for what came in the hadith
Whenever I pass by the grave of an 'Amiri or a Qurashi, I give him the glad tidings of the Fire. متى مررت على قبر عامري أو قرشي فبشره بالنار
, the hadith is weak. Praise be to Allah that it was weak; otherwise, it would have caused much difficulty. Therefore, we say: If the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) explicitly stated that one of the people of the period of ignorance is a disbeliever, then he is a disbeliever, and there is no dispute in this. Or if he stated that one is among the people of the Fire, then he is among the people of the Fire. As for those about whom he did not explicitly state, the rule is that their affair is left to Allah (Mighty and Majestic). The correct view is that they will be tested on the Day of Resurrection by what Allah (Mighty and Majestic) wills. Whoever obeys will enter Paradise, and whoever disobeys will enter the Fire.
