Exegesis of His saying, the Exalted: (Or does man have what he wishes?)
Allah the Exalted said: [Surah al-Najm: 24] (Or) here is disconnected, because it can be disconnected or connected. If there is a counterpart, it is connected; if there is no counterpart, it is disconnected. If you say: If you say, "Do you have Zayd or 'Amr?" it is connected. And if you say in a verse like this:[An-Najm 53:24] It means: Nay,And the question mark means: Nay, does man have what he wishes? And the question here is for negation and denial, meaning: Man does not have what he wishes.
How much a person wishes for something but does not get it; because there is a Manager, and He is Allah (Mighty and Majestic). So man does not have what he wishes. This is a refutation of the action of these polytheists who worship idols, saying: They bring them closer to Allah. Do they have that?
They do not have that; they do not bring them closer.
Also, as a refutation of their saying: They say, "Allah has daughters and they have sons." Do they have that? No.
Even if they wish for this and it is in their imagination, it will not happen; because to Allah belongs the Hereafter and the first. And for this he said: [Surah al-Najm: 25] And man does not have what he wishes. Often in daily life, a person often wishes for something but does not get it. Often a person wishes for something and strives for its causes, but does not get it; because the matter is in the hand of Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He).And for this he said:[An-Najm 53:25] He began with the Hereafter; because the dominion of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) in the Hereafter is more apparent than in this world. In this world, there are kings, presidents, and leaders, and the common people see that they have management. But in the Hereafter, this does not exist. [Surah Ghafir: 16] Thus said Allah (Mighty and Majestic).
Allah the Exalted said:
