What is the ruling on the phrase "O pleasure of the parents"?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The invocation here is for the pleasure of Allah, and then for the pleasure of the parents.

The questioner : So we say...

The Shaykh : No, no, be patient with me a little, because you found it difficult because you thought there was an invocation directed to Allah's creation, who are the parents. But here the invocation is not for them, but for the pleasure of Allah, of which the pleasure of the parents is a part.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Therefore, from the aspect that you noticed, there is no problem.

The questioner : Yes, yes.

The Shaykh : But if we must find a problem, it is only in that it suggests the thing that comes to your mind. But this is not suggestive, because when a person says "O pleasure of Allah," what is he invoking?

The questioner : There is a difference, right? There is a difference between saying "O Allah."

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : Yes, yes, you are correct.

The Shaykh : Likewise, there is a difference with "O parents."

The questioner : Correct.

The Shaykh : But the invocation is for the pleasure
And your Lord has decreed that you not worship except Him, and to parents, good treatment وَقَضَى رَبُّكَ أَلَّا تَعْبُدُوا إِلَّا إِيَّاهُ وَبِالْوَالِدَيْنِ إِحْسَانًا
[Al-Isra 17:23]
, so if a person invoked and said, "O excellence of the parents," that would not be shirk.

The questioner : Correct.

The Shaykh : But it is not recommended, especially since people have made it a custom and committed to it. So from this aspect, we do not recommend it, not because it contains shirk.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh: Is it clear?

The questioner : Clear, yes, yes, on the basis that... the pleasure of Allah is the pleasure of the parents.

The Shaykh : Yes, I mean, just like that.

The questioner : Okay, may Allah reward you with good, O Abu 'Abd al-Rahman.

The Shaykh : May Allah preserve you. Welcome.

The questioner : May Allah bless you.

The Shaykh: Peace be upon you.

The questioner : And upon you be peace, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.
