What is obligatory for us to do when the command of the father conflicts with the command of the mother?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Noble Shaykh, what is the ruling when the command of the father conflicts with the command of the mother, O Shaykh?

The Shaykh : What?

The questioner : When the command of the father conflicts with the command of the mother?

The Shaykh : An obligatory command?

The questioner : The father and the mother?

The Shaykh : If the command of the father and the mother conflict, you must try to satisfy both, and fulfill the needs of the father and the needs of the mother. If that is not possible, you look at which one would suffer more harm if you disobeyed them. If the father would suffer more harm, fulfill the father's need. If the mother would suffer more harm, fulfill the mother's need. If they are equal, give precedence to the mother, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The Prophet was asked, 'Messenger of Allah, to whom should I be dutiful?' 'Your mother,' he replied. He was asked, 'Then whom?' 'Your mother,' he replied. He was asked, 'Then whom?' 'Your mother,' he replied. He was asked, 'Then whom?' He replied, 'Your father.' سئل من أحق الناس بحسن صحبتي؟ قال : أمك، قال : ثم من ؟ قال : أمك، قال : ثم من ؟ قال : أمك، قال : ثم من ؟ قال : أبوك
