Catching up with the congregational prayer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
His Eminence the Shaykh: Regarding a person who arrives at the mosque and has missed some of the units of prayer, and another congregation is about to start, is it better for him to line up with them or wait? The Shaykh: If he will catch up with one unit of prayer with the first congregation, he should not wait for the second one, even if he is certain that the second one will come. This is because the congregation that carries the reward of twenty-seven degrees is the first one. As for the second congregation, it is better than each person praying alone, but it does not carry the virtue of the first congregation. So, if he catches up with one unit of prayer with the first congregation, he should not wait for the second one.
However, if he has missed the final sitting for the testimony of faith and is certain that someone will come, he should wait for him. If he is not certain, he should join the imam.
