The obligation of the traveler to complete the prayer if he prays behind a resident imam
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
A traveling man joined a resident imam in a mosque. The imam had prayed two rak'ahs, so the traveler completed two rak'ahs with him and concluded the prayer, assuming that he had shortened the prayer. Is that permissible, O Shaykh?
This is not permissible;Because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: (The imam is appointed to be followed),And he said: (Pray what you catch up with, and make up what you missed). Accordingly, inform the one who did this that it is obligatory for him to repeat the Zuhr prayer as four rak'ahs now. Even if he only caught up with the imam for the final tashahhud, and he was sitting while you were traveling, you must pray four rak'ahs.
