How to Deal with the Tabligh Group

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
A certain person has attributed to you the view that you support the Tabligh Group. What is your statement on this?
How could we support them? What would we say?The questioner: He says that you stated: It is permissible to go with them.

The Shaykh: Yes.

I say: It is permissible, and it may become obligatory for a student of knowledge if, by going with them, he guides them to the truth. The group does not commit open acts of evil, but it is true that it has been established that they have shortcomings and need someone to teach and guide them. Otherwise, whoever knows their condition, their preference for others, their morals, and their effects would say: This is a group with no parallel.
Many people embraced Islam through them, and many open sinners were reformed through them, and this is a matter that is not denied. They possess a degree of selflessness, gentleness, and good character that is not found in others, but they have ignorance, without a doubt. If a person goes out with them to guide them and say: O my brothers! This, for example, is a religious innovation. The Sunnah did not bring this. So this is good. I love it when students of knowledge come with them and guide them, or go out with them and guide them.
As for us remaining in a state of mutual cursing, declaring one another innovators or disbelievers, or the like, this is wrong. There is no room for mentioning the incidents that occurred regarding the influence of these people on open sinners, disbelievers, and atheists.

But if a young man says: Is it better for me to go out with them, or to seek knowledge? We said: It is better to seek knowledge, without a doubt; because they do not have additional knowledge. Most of what they have is looking into morals, virtues, and the like, and many of them do not distinguish between authentic and weak narrations.
