The second question of Fatwa No. ( 17776 )
Q 2: I have read several of your fatwas, and you encourage students of knowledge to go out with the Tabligh group.
The knowledge for going out with the Tabligh group, and praise be to Allah, we went out with them and benefited greatly. But, O my esteemed shaykh, I saw some practices that are not found in the Book of Allah or the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), such as: 1 - forming circles in the mosque, two or more people, where they recite the last ten chapters of the Qur'an, and persisting in this practice in this manner every time we go out. 2 - performing i'tikaf (spiritual retreat in the mosque) on Thursdays continuously . 3 - Designating days for going out, which are three days in the month, forty days every year, and four months in a lifetime. 4 - continuous collective du'a' (supplication) after every sermon. So how, O my esteemed shaykh, should I deal with these practices and actions that are not found in the Book of Allah or the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) if I go out with this group? Knowing, O my esteemed shaykh, that it is difficult to change this methodology, and this is their way, so we ask for clarification.
A 2: All the practices of this group that you mentioned are religious innovations (bid'ah), so it is not permissible to participate with them until they adhere to the methodology of the Book and the Sunnah and abandon innovations in their words, actions, and beliefs.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
