The ruling on a latecomer who missed one rak'ah when the imam erred and added a rak'ah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
If a person prays Maghrib with the imam and misses one rak'ah of the prayer, but the imam errs, then stands up and performs a fourth rak'ah, and then the imam performs the prostration for forgetfulness, and the follower who missed a rak'ah concludes the prayer with the imam, is the addition by the imam considered a completion of the Maghrib prayer, or does he stand up and perform a third rak'ah?

This example is considered an example, but we take a rule: If the imam adds a rak'ah and someone joins him in the second rak'ah, what is the status of the prayer? Does the follower count this extra rak'ah?Answer: Some scholars hold that it is not counted, and that if the imam concludes the prayer and the follower has missed a rak'ah, he must stand up and perform a rak'ah. However, this opinion is weak.

And the correct view is: It is counted for the follower who missed part of the prayer that the imam’s extra rak'ah is valid. For example: If he joined the imam in the second rak'ah of Maghrib—as in the example mentioned by the brother—and then the imam added a rak'ah by mistake, this latecomer who missed one rak'ah has performed three rak'ahs. Therefore: His prayer is complete, and he must conclude it.If he adds a rak'ah, this means: If he intentionally adds to it and prays Maghrib as four rak'ahs, this is not permissible. If the imam is excused for the addition due to his mistake, you are not excused. Therefore, it is not permissible for you to perform more than the obligatory number of rak'ahs in your prayer. If someone were to say: Did not the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "When you hear the iqamah, walk to the prayer with calmness and composure, and do not rush. Whatever you catch, pray, and whatever you miss, complete it."or he said: "Complete it" We said: Yes.
He said it this way.But his saying: "Complete it" or "make up what you missed" indicates that the follower still has something remaining. The follower has now completed it, and nothing remains for him. This is the stronger, correct, and necessary position, and it is the view of our Shaykh, Abd al-Rahman ibn Sa'di (may Allah have mercy on him).
