When did the issue of the narrator's precision and verification arise in the science of hadith terminology?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : My teacher, when did this issue arise regarding the addition of precision, meaning, the addition of the narrator's precision?

The Shaykh : You ask when it arose?

The questioner : When, I mean, where did this issue arise? Did it arise from the addition of precision, or the addition of the narrator's precision?

The Shaykh : I do not know if you understood your question. It arose from the fact that they observed that many of the hadiths reported from more than one Companion differ in their wording but agree in their meaning. When they observed this difference, they said that these Companions, who had been given hearts and minds that were very strong and retentive, must have permitted themselves to narrate the hadith by meaning, under the condition mentioned earlier.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : And so they mentioned from one of the Companions, whose name has escaped my memory now, that he said, "If we narrate the hadith to you by meaning, that is sufficient for you." I think the answer to your question is this observation.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh: Yes.
