Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: (The Hour has drawn near and the moon has split)
Allah the Exalted said: [Surah al-Qamar: 1].
His statement: meaning: it has drawn near,But the scholars say: Indeed, the increase in the structure indicates an increase in the meaning. Here, (it has drawn near) has an increase in structure over (it drew near), and the increase is the hamzah and the taa. This indicates that the drawing near is very close, or that the nearness is very close. So the meaning of (it has drawn near) is: it drew near very much.
His statement: is: the Day of Resurrection,And Allah the Exalted said about it: [Surah Muhammad: 18] meaning: its signs.
Among its signs: The sending of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). For the sending of the Messenger (may Allah praise him and grant him peace) and his being the Seal of the Prophets is evidence that the Hour has drawn near; for this reason, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) confirmed this by saying: (I was sent and the Hour is like these two, and he gestured with his middle finger and index finger) Now, the index finger is close to the middle finger, is it not? There is only a small part between them, the size of a fingernail. This indicates its nearness. But despite that, how much time is there between us and the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) now,We are in the fifteenth century of the Hijra, meaning: Thirteen years after the sending of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), and yet the world still remains, which indicates that what has passed is very long. So much so that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) once addressed the people at sunset,So he said: (Indeed, nothing remains of the world—meaning for those who came before you—except what remains of this day of yours) So: (The Hour has drawn near) means: the Day of Resurrection has drawn near.
His statement: (AND THE MOON HAS SPLIT) And it is as if Allah (Mighty and Majestic) indicated that this is one of the signs of the Hour. (And the moon has split) means: it became two parts, one distinct from the other. One was on Mount Abu Qubays and the other on Mount Qaiqan,Meaning: One on al-Safa and one on al-Marwah. The distance in the sight of the eye between al-Safa and al-Marwah is very far, perhaps taking years. And the moon split in an instant by the command of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), and its parts separated in an instant; because the Quraysh were challenging the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) and asking him for signs,And Allah said in response to them: [Surah al-'Ankabut: 50-51] But it was not sufficient for them because they were obstinate and did not want the truth. They came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him),They said: saying: O Muhammad! You say that you are a Messenger and that news comes to you from the sky, and so on and so on. Show us a sign. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) pointed to the moon and called upon his Lord, and it split into two parts in an instant. Who can split this great, high celestial body except the Lord of the Worlds (Mighty and Majestic)? He showed it to them, but did it benefit them? No.
It did not benefit them;Rather, they said: They said: We have bewitched Muhammad,And some said: We have bewitched the moon, and they denied it,And some of them said to others: saying: Ask the travelers when they arrive, did they see it or not? So they began asking travelers from every direction who arrived in Mecca, and they said: Yes.
We saw it on such-and-such a night, and so on and so on. This is for those close to them, like the people of the Peninsula, for example. As for those far away, they may not see this. Why? Because of the distance. And as we know now, night here is day in another place, or there are many clouds and fog that prevent vision. For this reason, it is never possible for any person of sound mind to deny the splitting of the moon as a physical splitting, because it was not mentioned in the history of the Greeks, nor in the history of India, nor in such-and-such. This is not an argument that invalidates what is established in the two Sahihs and others that the moon actually split a physical splitting. And we believe that the One who is able to fold the heavens with His right hand like the folding of a scroll for books is able to split the moon into two parts. What is beyond His ability?Nothing: [Fatir: 44] .
For this reason, there is no justification for the denial of those who deny it among those who claim to be Muslims,And they say: saying that the celestial spheres cannot be changed. Allah is the Greatest! Who created the celestial spheres? Is it not Allah? Yes.
Therefore: He is able to change them: [Surah Ya-Sin: 82] The splitting of the moon was a physical splitting. It split into two parts, and people saw it and witnessed it. But the arrogant, obstinate person does not accept anything.
Allah the Exalted said:
The Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two].
اقْتَرَبَتِ السَّاعَةُ وَانْشَقَّ الْقَمَرُHis statement:
The Hour has drawn near

فَهَلْ يَنْظُرُونَ إِلَّا السَّاعَةَ أَنْ تَأْتِيَهُمْ بَغْتَةً فَقَدْ جَاءَ أَشْرَاطُهَاAmong its signs: The sending of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
