Preserving the food remaining in the vessel

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Some people, when they spread out food, place palm fronds and date leaves over it and put some dates near it,They say: so that nothing comes to it. What is the ruling?

By Allah! We learned this long ago when we were children. They used to say: The gecko—which is what people fear—runs away from palm fronds and dates, and for this reason, a proverb is struck with it. If a person, for example, experiences mishaps and nothing comes to him, they say: This is a date that the gecko cannot reach. But I do not know if this is true or not. However, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that a cover be placed over the vessel, even if it is just a stick. Therefore, it is recommended that if there is food, dates, or anything else edible left in the vessel, a person should place something over it, even if it is just a stick, as the Sunnah has come.
