Are trampled images an exception to the prohibition of images of living beings?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Peace be upon you, and Allah’s mercy and blessings.

The Shaykh : And upon you be peace, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.

The questioner : How are you, Shaykh Nasser?

The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah, I am well.

The questioner : How are you?

The Shaykh : Good, if Allah wills.

The questioner : Zakariya is speaking with you from America.

The Shaykh : Welcome, how are you? How is it going?

The questioner : Praise be to Allah.

The Shaykh : I am happy.

The questioner : Praise be to Allah for the good, and Allah.

The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah.

The questioner : May Allah bless you...

The Shaykh : May Allah bless you.

The questioner : May Allah preserve you. I have a few questions, O Shaykh.

The Shaykh: Go ahead.

The questioner : We have learned from you, O Shaykh, that the prohibition of image-making and keeping images was revealed gradually, as is the case with many matters.

The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner : And there are hadiths whose apparent meaning... permits images in the house, and then came hadiths that prohibit them, forbidding that.

The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner : The prohibiting text takes precedence over the permitting text, as we have learned from you, may Allah be pleased with you and bless you. But the trampled images are excepted from this prohibition,
Abu Talha reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: Angels do not enter a house in which there is a picture. Busr said: Zaid b. Khalid fell sick and we visited him to inquire after his health. As we were in his house (we saw) a curtain having pictures on it. I said to 'Ubaidullah Khaulani: Did he not narrate to us (the Holy Prophet's command pertaining to pictures)? Thereupon he said: He in fact did that (but he also said): Except the prints upon the cloth. Did you not hear this? I said: No, whereupon He said: He had in fact made a mention of this. لا تدخل الملائكة بيتًا فيه صورة إلا رقمًا في ثوب
Sahih Muslim 2106e
meaning trampled.

The Shaykh : But that is from you, not from me.

The questioner : The verse, yes, that is correct. And there is a hadith of Aisha that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) refused to enter the house when he saw a cushion in the house with an image on it.

The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner : Even though the cushion is trampled and stepped on, does not this hadith take precedence over the hadith:
except a design in a garment إلا رقمًا في ثوب
Sahih al-Bukhari 5958
and we say that the prohibition was completed by this hadith, and that it is not permissible for an image to be present, even if it is trampled?

The Shaykh : My brother, I answered you previously when I said, but this is not from me. We see that the presence of images in the house is not permissible, whether they are trampled or hung up.

The questioner : Praise be to Allah, this is what I wanted to hear. May Allah bless you, O Shaykh.

The Shaykh : Now, what about the rest?
