The opinion on the Tabligh Jama'ah and the ruling on going out with them

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
What is your Excellency's opinion regarding the Tabligh Jama'ah and going out with them?
Who are the Tabligh Jama'ah?The questioner: They are people of da'wah (calling others to Islam).

Answer: I am, if Allah wills, a person of da'wah. Are they Muslims or non-Muslims?The questioner: Muslims.

Answer: Do they pray or not?The questioner: They pray.

Answer: Do they engage in dhikr (remembrance of Allah) or not?The questioner: I do not know.

Answer: No, they engage in dhikr, and more than others. Do they pay zakah? Do they perform Hajj? The questioner: Yes.

Answer: In reality, the one whom Allah the Exalted has given a desire for knowledge and acquisition of knowledge, it is better that he does not go out with them, because it wastes a lot of time in which there is no seeking of knowledge, and the people among them are often ignorant. And the person who has no work and fears that if he stays in the town he will wander and be lost with the lost, let him go out with them, especially those in our country, Saudi Arabia. And how many an open sinner went out with them and became one of the upright. Indeed, Allah guided through their hands people who were disbelievers. So disparaging them is wrong, and urging people to accompany them is wrong.Rather, it is said: Their affair is among the permissible matters, such that if a person is occupied with knowledge, that is better. And if he would waste his time if he stayed, there is no harm in accompanying them, because we do not know about them except good.

It remains to be said: They limit going out to three days, forty days, and four months. And we asked them about this: Why?They said: The intended purpose of this is to train the person in worship during this period. So if you have a desire for knowledge and acquisition of knowledge, sitting and seeking knowledge is better.

The questioner: The one who goes out with them, might some religious innovations be imposed on him?Answer: The most confusing thing with them is this. As for those we have in Saudi Arabia, as for the others, I do not know about them.

The questioner: And going out with them to Pakistan?Answer: Never.
I see that those we have do not go out to Pakistan or elsewhere for gatherings.

The questioner: Or Qatar?Answer: Qatar or elsewhere, they stay in their countries, they come to the villages and call them to good, and urge them to it.

The questioner: Do they claim to be connected to those there in Pakistan?Answer: I do not see a connection. People from the group from al-Qassim went and attended their gatherings and praised them, but you know, people in many matters are between one who faults and one who praises.
