[Exegesis of (al-Fath) in the statement of the Exalted: (before the conquest and fought)]

O Shaykh! May Allah reward you with good! The verse:
before the conquest [of Makkah] and foughtمِنْ قَبْلِ الْفَتْحِ وَقَاتَلَ
[Al-Hadid:10] Is the conquest of Makkah or the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah?
No, what is meant by it is the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah, as that came in the hadith, for it is in reality a conquest,First: because it was in the forefront of the conquest; for the conquest is built upon the treaty, and the conquest of Makkah is built upon the treaty.

Second: It was called a conquest because the people began to mix with one another, and the severance between Quraysh and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) and his Companions was cut off. It was only a cause for the greatest conquest; for the cause of the greatest conquest was that Quraysh broke the covenant between them and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) in the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah, where they aided their allies against the allies of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), so they broke the covenant, and thus came the greatest conquest.
