The Shaykh : Yes?

The questioner : O Shaykh, may Allah reward you with good. In the verse:
before the conquest [of Makkah] and fought من قبل الفتح وقاتل
[Al-Hadid 57:10]
What is meant by “the conquest”? Is it the conquest of Makkah or the Treaty of al-Hudaybiyyah?

The Shaykh : The intended meaning is the Treaty of al-Hudaybiyyah, as stated in the hadith, for it is in reality a conquest. First: because it was the precursor to the conquest, as the conquest was built upon the treaty.
Second: it was called a conquest because people began to mix with one another, and the severance between Quraysh and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and his Companions was cut off. It was only a cause for the greatest conquest because the cause of that greatest conquest—meaning the greatest conquest—was that Quraysh broke the covenant between them and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) in the Treaty of al-Hudaybiyyah, where they aided their allies against the allies of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family). Thus, they broke the covenant, and the greatest conquest occurred. Yes.

The questioner : I am always late for the congregation because of forbidding evil.

The Shaykh : Raise the microphone to your face so it can be heard.
