The ruling on using the mushaf as a sutrah in prayer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
O Shaykh! Regarding using the mushaf as a sutrah in the mosque, especially when the pillars or the wall are far from the person in his place of prayer, is this a disrespect to the mushaf, or is it permissible?
First of all—may Allah bless you—you must know that the sutrah is not obligatory; it is a recommended practice (sunnah), not obligatory. So there is no need to go to this extent.

And secondly: It is not permissible to make the mushaf a sutrah for you; because this is using the mushaf for something other than what it was intended for. A person must respect and honor the mushaf. Similarly, in our view, those who, when they receive a call and have to wait, record the Qur'an—we do not see this at all. It is not right to record the Qur'an.
It is used for waiting, and the one who hears it might be a non-Muslim, or might be someone else. So if you want to wait, play a recording of wisdom or something similar, or just let the call go until it connects.
And with this, this session ends, and until another meeting, if Allah wills, on a day like this.
We ask Allah to grant us and you beneficial knowledge and righteous deeds.
