Exegesis of a verse from Surat al-Hadid
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, the Seal of the Prophets and the Imam of the righteous, and upon his family and his Companions, and those who follow them with excellence until the Day of Judgment. To proceed: This is the two hundred and twelfth of the gatherings known as the Open Door, which take place every Thursday, and this Thursday is the twenty-fourth of the month of Rabi' al-Awwal, 1420 AH.
We begin this session with what we have been accustomed to, which is the exegesis of the Noble Qur'an.
And I say to you, O my brothers: The Noble Qur'an was revealed to Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), and Allah described it as blessed,And He made clear the wisdom of its revelation, and He said, (Exalted and Majestic is He): [Surah Sad: 29] This means: It is obligatory for Muslims to reflect upon the Qur'an and understand its meaning, otherwise they would be like those who do not read, because the one who does not understand the meaning is like the one who does not understand the time,Allah, Mighty and Majestic, said: [Surat al-Baqarah: 78] So He described those who do not know the Book except as wishes,Meaning: except as recitation,And He described them as illiterate, meaning: like the one who neither reads nor writes.
Therefore, I urge you, O my brothers, and whoever hears these words of mine, to reflect upon the Qur'an and understand its meaning, but no one should speak about it with his own opinion without knowledge, because whoever speaks about the Qur'an with his own opinion should take his seat from the Fire, and he has erred even if he hit the mark, and praise be to Allah, the books of tafsir exist, but what is intended are the books that are trusted, and their authors are trusted, because those who dealt with the exegesis of the Qur'an have methodologies and schools of thought, each of them interpreting the verses according to the school he followed. So you will find the tafsir of the Mu'tazilah aligns with the methodology, opinions, and beliefs of the Mu'tazilah, and likewise the Khawarij, and likewise others from the people of desires and religious innovation. But you must stick to the trusted books, such as the tafsir of Ibn Kathir and the tafsir of al-Sa'di (may Allah have mercy on him), for they are the best of what we know that people circulate among themselves today.

كِتَابٌ أَنْزَلْنَاهُ إِلَيْكَ مُبَارَكٌ لِيَدَّبَّرُوا آيَاتِهِ وَلِيَتَذَكَّرَ أُولُو الْأَلْبَابِAnd among them are unlettered ones who do not know the Scripture except in wishful thinking
