Ruling on taking compensation for spreading good
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
A man wants to perform Hajj but cannot afford it,So one of the groups offered him, and they said: so he would perform Hajj with us at the expense of the group, on the condition that he delivers lectures, issues fatwas, and does similar things. Is that permissible, and what is obligatory for him?
If it is a condition, it is not permissible, because a person is not allowed to take anything from this world in exchange for matters of the Hereafter. But if they did not say this to him, and they said: If they say, "We want you to perform Hajj with us, and we will bear your costs for free because of the good and benefit we hope for from you," there is no harm. But if it is a transaction, no.
That some scholars (may Allah have mercy on him) say: There is no harm in this, because taking compensation for teaching knowledge is permissible, and even for teaching the Qur'an, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "The most deserving thing for which you take a wage is the Book of Allah" .
