Ruling on taking money for intercession

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Your Eminence! What is the ruling on interceding for someone to get them a job and taking a sum of money for it?
Interceding for a person to get a job in order to take money is not permissible. This is because we know that the one who takes the money will bribe the officials. We hear that he takes ten thousand or twenty thousand or something like that, and then he bribes the officials. Bribery is known to be forbidden, indeed it is among the major sins.

The questioner: Fees, O Shaykh.

The Shaykh: Fees of ten thousand? He takes a taxi for two riyals to the office. If you valued his fees, they would not amount to five hundred riyals.

The questioner: He does not bribe the officials, but he has influence with the officials. The Shaykh: If he has influence, it is not permissible. Because influence is a spiritual matter; he loses nothing.
