Ruling on wiping the eyes with the thumbs of both hands after the mu'adhdhin says: I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
What is the ruling on wiping the eyes with the thumbs of both hands after the mu'adhdhin says: I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah

One of the books in the journals mentioned some matters and then said: They are not innovations, such as: when the mu'adhdhin says, I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, the person wipes his eyes with the thumbs of his hands after he has greeted them. What do you say about this? The Shaykh: I say: For what purpose does he do this? The questioner: As an act of worship, O Shaykh.

The Shaykh: What is the worship? The questioner: It clarifies the vision.

The Shaykh: We say: This is a religious innovation from one angle, and a type of associating partners with Allah from another angle.Wiping the eye at the adhan, especially if he says: I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah is an innovation; because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: (When you hear the mu'adhdhin, say what he says) and he did not mention any action. He did not mention that you should wipe your eye, or your ear, or your head. So this action is an innovation.

Second: It is a type of associating partners with Allah; because he believes that it benefits, whereas it does not benefit. It is like the amulets that they hung in the pre-Islamic age of ignorance, believing that they benefit the sick, whereas they do not benefit them. So if you see someone doing this; Then advise him with gentleness and kindness, and say to him: this is not something brought by the Sunnah, so advise him.
