The Ruling on the Mu'adhdhin Saying: (Indeed, Allah and His Angels send blessings upon the Prophet...)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
We return at the beginning of this episode to the message from our listener Ahmad 'Az al-Din Hizam al-'Imad from Northern Yemen, al-'Asadi village and al-Sab al-'Ali. Our brother Ahmad, we presented some of his questions in a previous episode, and in this episode he asks and says: Did the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) prescribe that after completing the adhan, the mu'adhdhin should say in a loud voice like the adhan:
[All] praise is [due] to Allah, Lord of the worlds -
[Al-Fatihah 1:2]
,
Indeed, Allah confers blessing upon the Prophet, and His angels [ask Him to do so]. O you who have believed, ask [Allah to confer] blessing upon him and ask [Allah to grant him] peace.
[Al-Ahzab:56]? Is such an action permissible? May Allah reward you with good?
Answer: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, and may Allah send blessings and peace upon the Messenger of Allah, upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow his guidance.
As for what follows: This action mentioned by the questioner is a denounced religious innovation. It is not permissible for the mu'adhdhin to say after the adhan: "Praise be to Allah" with the loudspeaker voice, or "Send blessings upon the Messenger of Allah," or to recite the verse. All of this is a religious innovation. Rather, when he says: "There is no god but Allah," he should turn off the loudspeaker and not add anything. And if he is not using a loudspeaker, likewise he should not add anything; he should not innovate. The last part of the adhan is "There is no god but Allah"; this is the end of the adhan. So whoever adds to it, whether sending blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) or praise for Allah, has innovated. However, it is prescribed for him afterwards, without raising his voice with the adhan, and not with a raised voice on the loudspeaker, that he should send blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) between himself and himself, even if those around him hear it. Then he says:
O Allah, the Lord of this complete call and of this prayer, which is going to be established! Give Muhammad Al-Wasila and Al-Fadila and raise him to Al-Maqam-al-Mahmud which You have promised himاللهم رب هذه الدعوة التامة، والصلاة القائمة، آت محمداً الوسيلة والفضيلة، وابعثه مقاماً محموداً الذي وعدته إنك لا تخلف الميعاد
Sahih al-Bukhari 4719
It is prescribed for the mu'adhdhin to say this. And likewise, the people who heard the adhan, it is recommended for them to respond to him, meaning: they say what the mu'adhdhin says, except for the "Hayya" part, where he says: "There is no power nor strength except with Allah." So when he says at the end of the adhan: "There is no god but Allah," he sends blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in a low voice, not with the adhan, but he sends blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) just as others do.
Sahih al-Bukhari 4719
.... So the listener says it and the mu'adhdhin says it, and neither of them should make it part of the adhan, neither the mu'adhdhin nor anyone else. Rather, the adhan ends with the saying: "There is no god but Allah," it is finished. So whoever wants to send blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) should do so in a low voice, not of the same kind as the voice of the adhan, not with the adhan, and not on a loudspeaker with the adhan, but rather between himself and himself, or let those around him hear it, there is no harm; because the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
When you hear the Mu'adhdhin, repeat what he says, then invoke a blessing on me, for everyone who invokes a blessing on me will receive ten blessings from Allah; then beg from Allah al-Wasila for me, which is a rank in Paradise fitting for only one of Allah's servants, and I hope that I may be that one. If anyone who asks that I be given the Wasila, he will be assured of my intercession.
Sahih Muslim 384
, this is a favor from Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He).
He also said, (peace and blessings be upon him):
Whoever after listening to the Adhan says, 'Allahumma Rabba hadhihi-dda` watit-tammah, was-salatil qa'imah, ati Muhammadan al-wasilata wal-fadilah, wa b`ath-hu maqaman mahmudan-il-ladhi wa`adtahu' [O Allah! Lord of this perfect call (perfect by not ascribing partners to You) and of the regular prayer which is going to be established, give Muhammad the right of intercession and illustriousness, and resurrect him to the best and the highest place in Paradise that You promised him (of)], then my intercession for him will be allowed on the Day of Resurrectionمن قال حين يسمع النداء: اللهم رب هذه الدعوة التامة، والصلاة القائمة، آت محمداً الوسيلة والفضيلة وابعثه مقاماً محموداً الذي وعدته، حلت له شفاعتي يوم القيامة
Sahih al-Bukhari 614
, and this is a favor from Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He). It is prescribed for the believing man and woman, when they hear the adhan, to say the same as the mu'adhdhin, both the man and the woman. When he says: Allahu Akbar, he says: Allahu Akbar. When he says: I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, he says: I bear witness that there is no god but Allah. When he says: I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, he says: I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. When he says: Hurry to prayer, he says: There is no power nor strength except with Allah. When he says: Hurry to success, he says: There is no power nor strength except with Allah. This is an exception; he does not say the same as the mu'adhdhin, but rather says: There is no power nor strength except with Allah, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) guided. When he says: Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, he says: Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar. When he says: There is no god but Allah, he says: There is no god but Allah. Then he sends blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He sends blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in a way that is separate from the adhan, not part of it. He lowers his voice and does not raise it excessively like in the adhan, whether he is the mu'adhdhin or not, but rather he says it in a normal voice. Then he says:
O Allah, Lord of this perfect call and the established prayer, grant Muhammad the intercession and the excellence, and raise him to the praised station which You have promised him, for You do not break Your promise.
This was narrated by al-Bukhari in the Sahih, from Jabir, except for some words.
You do not break Your promise
Muwatta Malik 20:132
This is an addition narrated by al-Bayhaqi with a good chain of narration.
And when it was said to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him):
When you hear the Mu'adhdhin, repeat what he says, then invoke a blessing on me, for everyone who invokes a blessing on me will receive ten blessings from Allah; then beg from Allah al-Wasila for me, which is a rank in Paradise fitting for only one of Allah's servants, and I hope that I may be that one. If anyone who asks that I be given the Wasila, he will be assured of my intercession.
Sahih Muslim 384
, this is a great good and a great favor. It is necessary for every believer and every believing woman not to be negligent in this, but rather to strive for it. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
