Ruling on studying to obtain a degree in order to raise an employee's salary

An employee was told: If you obtain a certain degree, your salary increases by a certain amount. Is it rewarded for him to complete his studies in order to get a salary increase?
Is this study religious study, or is it worldly study like engineering and the like? If it is the former, it is not permissible; if it is the latter, there is nothing wrong with it.
And with this, this session ends, and until another meeting, if Allah wills, Blessed and Exalted is He, and all praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds.
