﴿ فَاسْأَلُوا أَهْلَ الذِّكْرِ إِن كُنتُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَ ﴾

The Shaykh :
Or do you, [O Muhammad], ask of them a payment, so they are by debt burdened down? أم تسألهم أجرا فهم من مغرم مثقلون
[At-Tur 52:40]
And what is the answer? Does the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) say to them, "Give me money, give me a fee"? Never.
Say, [O Muhammad], "I do not ask you for the Qur'an any payment, and I am not of the pretentious قل لا أسألكم عليه أجرا وما أنا من المتكلفين
[Sad 38:86]
The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) does not ask for a fee for what he conveyed of the message; rather, he calls people for their own benefit.
