A Response to Those Who Permit a Second Congregation in the Mosque, Citing the Hadith: “Is there no man who would give charity to this man by praying with him?”

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : This is what occurred from his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
Is there any man who may do good with this (man) and pray along with him. ألا رجلٌ يتصدَّق على هذا فيصلي معه ؟!
Sunan Abi Dawud 574Sahih (Al-Albani)
This is his statement. And what is the difference between this expression and if he had said to him, “Pray with him”?
The student : ... .

The Shaykh : He was not his imam. So who was the imam, then?
The student : The one performing the obligatory prayer.

The Shaykh : Well done, well done. After these three clarifications, a group of those who had missed the first congregational prayer entered. So who is the one who is obligated, the one performing a voluntary prayer, the one giving charity, and the one receiving the charity?
The student : ... .

The Shaykh : ... Hmm. So many scholars classify this hadith under the topic of repeating the obligatory congregation, and it is not... Whoever has prayed the obligatory prayer may perform a voluntary prayer behind the one performing the obligatory prayer. This is the indication of the hadith, and nothing more.

The questioner : Regarding the rule of generality, O Shaykh.

The Shaykh : There is no generality here, may Allah reward you.

The questioner : No, no, I do not mean that in this context.

The Shaykh : Ah, very well, please proceed.
