The Shaykh Al-Albani’s Challenge to the Sects That Interpret the Attributes and Verses
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : So I say, I challenge these people who engage in figurative interpretation, or rather, those who deny the divine attributes, whether they are from the Sufis or from the other schools of thought, such as the Maturidiyyah and the Asha'irah. When they interpret many of the verses of the attributes and the hadiths of the attributes, let alone if they are from the Mu'tazilah or the Khawarij, I challenge them: bring me any phrase in the world, and I am capable of turning it into pure tawhid (the oneness of Allah). I do not deny my eloquence and my rhetorical skill; I am Al-Albani, a non-Arab, and yet bring me an Arabic phrase that is explicit disbelief, and I will turn it for you into pure tawhid. What do you think if someone said, "The priest, the priestess, Isa, Musa, and so on, of the names, created the heavens and the earth"? If it were said, "Isa created the heavens and the earth," what would the Christians say? The Christians would say, "The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are one God." So if someone said, "Isa created the heavens and the earth," with a simple distortion, a simple distortion that we learned from these people who interpret and deny, and we did not adopt it from them, but we learned the interpretation which is denial, and we said, "Isa created the heavens and the earth" means "the Lord of Isa, by the decree of Allah, [the word] Lord of Isa is omitted." So this interpretation is the root of denial.
